Penang Weather Chart

The weather in Penang is almost uniform throughout the year, with only small variations according to season. Referring to the weather chart above, you can see that the average temperature hovers between 27-28°C (81-83²F). Ironic but true, that the highest temperatures in Penang are recorded during the winter months, namely between mid January to early March. February is the hottest and driest month in Penang. The sky is often cloudless. As a result, the evenings are also coolest during this time, which evens out the average temperature. If you are a photography enthusiast, I recommend that you visit during this time, as you are more assured of blue skies.

There are two distinct wet seasons in Penang, one around May and another around October. That's the time between the two monsoon periods. Rain in Penang is usually heavy but not long. Only on occasion that we get rain throughout the day. Nevertheless, you may want to consider avoiding the wet months.

One of the most colourful festivals in Penang, the Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods, usually takes place in November, still a rather wet month. It usually rains heavily during this particular festival - devotees believe the rain is cleansing from the gods.
