The Penang State Stadium is located in Batu Kawan, a new township being developed. It has a capacity of 40,000 spectators, and was completed in 2000, after the Government decided to turn Batu Kawan into the third township in Penang after Bayan Baru and Seberang Jaya.

I explored Batu Kawan on a bright sunny day in May, on the same day that I visited Pulau Aman. There is regular ferry service to Pulau Aman from Batu Kawan.
